Two people with similar routine measurements can have different symptoms and activity patterns. A carefully chosen functional measurement may help the clinician decide what deserves closer attention. Its role in HLC care is to add context, rather than turn a device-generated vascular score into a diagnosis.
An optical finger-sensor assessment can record a pulse waveform and intervals between beats. The resulting report may describe waveform features and heart-rate variability. The method and algorithms determine which indices can be calculated; these are not interchangeable with ultrasound imaging or a direct measurement of every artery.
Stress, breathing, movement, recent stimulants and measurement conditions can influence the signal. Interpretation therefore starts with recording quality and your clinical context. This assessment does not directly show coronary plaque, locate an arterial narrowing or rule out cardiovascular disease.
