Why the distinction matters
Food IgG can reflect exposure to a food and may be associated with tolerance. A positive result does not show that the food is causing your symptoms. Using a long list of positives to remove many foods can create unnecessary restriction and make a balanced diet harder to maintain.
A more useful starting point
Record what you ate, the timing and type of symptoms, portions and relevant medicines. The clinician then considers whether the question concerns immediate allergy, lactose or another specific intolerance, coeliac disease, a bowel disorder or a different cause. Each calls for a different approach.
How HLC care can help
If you already have an IgG report, bring it to the consultation. We can put it in context and discuss a supervised, nutritionally adequate plan based on your symptoms. Any trial of food restriction should have a defined purpose, duration and review, rather than becoming a permanent diet because of an antibody score.
