Laboratory tests

Blood tests and biochemistry

Blood tests help turn a broad health conversation into specific findings. An individually selected panel can assess common risk factors, organ-related markers and possible deficiencies, giving your clinician a practical basis for deciding what to address first.

In detail

Why this matters in HLC care

A useful baseline helps distinguish a measurable issue from a general concern. Results can guide the priority of metabolic risk management, investigation of symptoms or nutritional review. Choosing tests deliberately also avoids repeating recent measurements without a reason.

What the different groups can tell us

Depending on the order, a panel may include blood count and iron-related measurements, glucose and lipid metabolism, liver and kidney markers, selected vitamins or minerals, inflammatory markers and hormones. These groups answer different questions; the service name does not mean every possible test is included.

A result outside a reference interval is not automatically a disease, and a result inside it is not a guarantee of health. Interpretation depends on symptoms, age, medicines, related tests and whether a change is persistent. Selected tumour markers, if clinically indicated, do not make a routine panel an all-cancer screening test.

Before the blood draw

Bring previous results and a complete list of medicines and supplements, including biotin-containing products. Confirm whether your specific panel requires fasting, a morning sample or timing within the menstrual cycle. Do not apply fasting instructions from another test or stop prescribed medicine on your own.

What you receive and what follows

The laboratory report identifies each analyte, value, unit and reference interval. During interpretation, the clinician explains which findings matter, which may need confirmation and what actions are reasonable. Before booking, confirm how and when the report and interpretation appointment are provided.

Follow-up works best when it has a purpose: checking an unresolved abnormality, monitoring a treatment or evaluating an agreed change. The timing depends on the marker and the clinical question rather than a fixed schedule for every test.
